2008

A new manufacturing facility was opened in Las Vegas, Nevada to accommodate consistent growth and serve our customers on the west coast. SPANCO also started to design electric wire rope hoists, offering a three and five ton heavy duty hoist known as the Lift Boss.

2005

SPANCO introduced rigid track fall protection systems. SPANCO also developed a line of tractor drives for I-beams and enclosed tracks, and retrofit drives for jib cranes.

1999

A new 95,000 square foot manufacturing facility was built on the edge of Pennsylvania's Amish country in Morgantown, PA. Today, the Morgantown facility remains as SPANCO's headquarters and the core manufacturing facility.

1992

SPANCO introduced workstation cranes into the product line under the trade name of Met Track. These were imported from Helm in Germany, through Metreel in England. Track was imported until 2003, at which point SPANCO started manufacturing all workstation components in the United States.

1979

SPANCO was founded by owner Richard Uhlig. The original 25,000 square foot manufacturing facility was located in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.  SPANCO started out manufacturing a small line of adjustable height portable gantry cranes and tripods. As the business took off, jib cranes and bridge cranes were added to the product line.

Notable SPANCO Milestones:

  • SPANCO was awarded ISO 9001 certification on February 1, 1999.
  • SPANCO became an official member of the Crane Manufacturers Association of America in 1990.
  • SPANCO is a member of the Monorail Manufacturers Association of America.
  • SPANCO is a member of the International Society for Fall Protection.
