Workstation Bridge Cranes

Can SPANCO provide improved hook height in a low headroom application?

Yes, SPANCO uses a double girder design to push the trolley clevis pin up to within a 4”-6” span of the underside of the header beam.

What is SPANCO's largest bridge length?

SPANCO has designed a 40’-0” span on most track series, except for the 400 series.

What is the longest runway overhang that SPANCO offers?

SPANCO’s standard design is a 4’-0” cantilever; however, special lengths have been designed for a particular track series or larger capacity track has been utilized for longer overhangs.

What is the maximum height a ceiling mounted system can be installed from the floor?

Based on experience, a ceiling mounted system will work up to at least a 25’-0” trolley clevis height from the floor; however, SPANCO recommends the system stay within the 10’-14’ standard trolley clevis height.

Does SPANCO offer a Workstation Bridge Crane with support centers longer than a 20’-0” span?

Yes, SPANCO offers standard support centers of 25’-0” and 30’-0” spans or can design support centers up to a 40’-0” span.

Jib Cranes

Does SPANCO manufacture the WJ Workstation Wall Mounted Jib longer than the standard lengths shown in your catalog?

Yes, SPANCO has manufactured WJ Workstation Wall Mounted Jibs to a 30’-0” span and quoted them up to a 35’-0” span.

Can SPANCO add a motorized drive to an existing manual rotation jib crane like the 100-Series Jib?

Yes, but it must be a retro-fit drive because the existing mast and box on the 100-Series Jibs are not designed to accept a chain and sprocket drive.

Gantry Cranes

Can the E-Series (Fixed Height and Adjustable Height) Gantries be modified for special heights and spans?

In most situations, SPANCO has not modified the E-Series Gantries except for an occasional, special application. Consult your SPANCO distributor to discuss your specific need.

Does SPANCO offer the A-Series Steel Fixed Height Gantry Crane in taller heights than what is shown in your catalog?

No, additional heights are not available. If additional height is required, SPANCO recommends our adjustable height gantry or the T-Series.

Does SPANCO sell aluminum I-beams separately?

SPANCO only sells aluminum I-beams for our Gantry Cranes and will not sell them for an unknown use.

Why is the A-Series Steel Adjustable Height Model 2A1515B less expensive than Model 2A1515WOB?

The A-Series Steel Adjustable Height Gantry Model 2A1515WOB are A-Frames and Uprights only. Also, “WOB” means “Without Beam”.

ALU-TRACK

What are the benefits of a SPANCO ALU-TRACK Bridge Crane compared to enclosed track?

SPANCO ALU-TRACK is lighter weight and includes oversized wheels, allowing the bridges to move smoothly and easily with reduced noise emissions.

What is a good bridge crane for a clean room that cannot have static discharge?

SPANCO ALU-TRACK workstations are a good solution for clean rooms because they are spark-resistant.

Can SPANCO ALU-TRACK be used in a food processing operation?

SPANCO ALU-TRACK is the only system that can be used in a food processing area (other than a stainless steel system). Because they are made of aluminum, SPANCO ALU-TRACK systems will not corrode or rust and there are no painted surfaces that could chip, flake and fall into the food process.

Which SPANCO bridge crane system is best for an acid environment?

A SPANCO ALU-TRACK Bridge Crane is not affected by an acid environment compared to a steel system, which will corrode on non-painted surfaces over time.

Monorails

Does SPANCO offer a solution that provides multiple trolleys to travel to multiple workstations?

Yes, SPANCO can provide left hand, right hand and three-way switches for multiple spurs.

Can a SPANCO Monorail System accommodate movement around a curve?

Yes, SPANCO Monorails can accommodate any curve angle, including full circles.

Can SPANCO Monorails be used in the food industry?

Yes, SPANCO monorails can be manufactured from ALU-TRACK or stainless steel, the perfect materials for food industry applications. Stainless steel does not corrode or rust and there are no painted surfaces that could chip, flake and fall into the food process.

Tripods

Can SPANCO Tripods be used to support humans for situations such as confined space entry or fall protection?

Absolutely not. SPANCO Tripods have never been designed for human support or fall protection.

Electric Wire Rope Hoist

Do I have to do any type of daily, weekly, or monthly maintenance on my hoist?

A yearly inspection of the hoist is required by OSHA. SPANCO recommends a yearly greasing be completed during the yearly inspection. SPANCO also recommends monthly inspection of wire rope. The oil on the gear reducer of the hoist drive should be changed after the first 500 operating hours, and then each 5000 operating hours thereafter.

Can the Lift Boss be operated outdoors?

Specific orders must be made for outdoor service hoists, but we do manufacture them.

Is the hoist equipped with an overload limit device?

A standard SPANCO hoist does not come equipped with an overload limit device, but this is an option that can be added when ordering a hoist.

Does the hoist have lower limit capability?

The standard SPANCO hoist only comes with an upper limit switch, but any hoist can be fitted with a rotary limit switch that will provide lower limit capability.

Will SPANCO custom design a hoist for my unique application?

SPANCO will custom design hoists for unique applications. Please contact a sales representative for details.

Is there a warranty on the hoist?

Yes, SPANCO provides a one year warranty on their Electric Wire Rope Hoists.

Tractor Drives

Is it difficult to install a SPANCO tractor drive?

Installation requires a basic knowledge of electricity, but the SPANCO Tractor Drive is easy to install and comes with detailed installation instructions.

Is a warranty provided on SPANCO Tractor Drives?

Yes, SPANCO Tractor Drives come with a one year warranty.

Fall Protection Systems

Are SPANCO’s Fall Protection Systems OSHA approved?

Absolutely. Each SPANCO Fall Protection System is manufactured in accordance with OSHA standard 1926.502

Can one SPANCO system be used both for lifting material and fall arrest?

No, material handling and fall protection must each have their own SPANCO system to ensure safety and performance.

What is the maximum capacity in persons for a SPANCO Fall Protection System?

SPANCO can design a Fall Protection System to meet any capacity in persons you require.
