Power Drive Specifications
Power drive kits for SPANCO gantry cranes provide high volume moving and lifting over a fixed travel route.
Power drives can be used for travel on V-groove (inverted angle), ASCE crane rail or direct floor use on
polyurethane tread wheels. T series gantries can be motorized either on V-groove or directly on the floor
with polyurethane wheels. A series fixed height steel gantry cranes with an I-Beam span up to 15 feet
can be motorized on a V-groove track only. The PF series gantry crane produces optimum design flexibility
for motorized travel.
Features
Power drives for gantry cranes have a transfer capacity up to 15 tons. Power drives for gantry kits
include two-drive assemblies with gear reducers, single speed 230/460V three phase TEFC motors and
adjustable "soft-start" control.
Customization
An optional control panel is available for SPANCO power driven gantry cranes. It includes:
- Mainline magnetic power disconnect
- Reversing magnetic contactor
- Thermal overload
- 115V fused control transformer
- Branch circuit fusing to gantry crane motors
- Solid state adjustable “soft start” control adjustable for time and torque in a NEMA 3R enclosure
A power driven double leg trackless gantry with floor guides is ideal for applications requiring a gantry
to run against a wall. A guide angle (supplied by others) lags to the floor along the wall guiding the
gantry that travels directly on the floor on polyurethane wheels. For trackless use in an open, clear
area where a guide angle on the floor is not practical. A selector switch can be incorporated in the control
pendant to selectively turn each motor on and off to compensate for skewing.
Single leg (semi gantry crane), top running end truck design maximizes space utility in confined, narrow areas
by traveling down an aisle on polyurethane wheels while the other end of the I-beam mounts on an end truck
traveling on an overhead runway.
Design Factor
