- Base plate mounted freestanding jib crane
- Foundation mounted free standing jib crane
- Sleeve insert mounted jib crane
Features
The freestanding jib crane, or Pillar jib crane as it is sometimes called, is available with 360-degree
jib rotation. Freestanding jib cranes require no additional support aside from an adequately sized permanent
foundation. For this jib crane, standard spans and under boom heights are available up to 20 feet. The top
bearing assembly on a free standing jib crane utilizes a Timken tapered roller bearing provided with a grease
fitting for proper lubrication.
Customization
Standard optional features for a free standing jib crane include: air swivels, collector rings, air and
electric motorized rotation, taglines, festoons and special controls for all environments. Specialty paint
finishes or hot dip galvanizing is also available. Capacities for this jib crane range up to 15 tons,
spans to 60 feet, and heights to 40 feet available through special order, depending on capacity.
Design Factor
A SPANCO free standing jib crane is designed to be mounted to a permanent concrete foundation. The
recommended foundations for a free standing jib crane are based on a soil pressure of 2,500 lbs. per sq.
ft. It is solely the customer’s responsibility to provide the proper foundation for the jib crane; there
should be no deviation from the recommended foundation size without first consulting a qualified
professional. The jib crane’s boom or I-beam is designed to meet all specifications utilizing a 25% factor
of rated load for impact and 15% of rated load for hoist and trolley weight. The pipe mast or column of
the jib crane is designed to give maximum strength and minimum deflection to resist bending, buckling,
and crushing as well as wear by the trunnion roller assembly. The bearings in this jib crane are designed
for a 5000 hour B-10 design life.
