SPANCO Ceiling Mounted Workstation Bridge Cranes are available in capacities ranging from 250 lbs to 4000 lbs.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Seismic Zone 4
All standard SPANCO cranes listed in SPANCO's Workstation Bridge Crane sales literature have been certified for use in general Seismic Zone 4 locations per the Uniform Building Code.
- Applications where cranes will be used in potentially hazardous environments or explosive environments require special consideration. As per the Uniform Building Code, these special conditions must be disclosed prior to placing an order.
- Applications where cranes will be used in essential facilities like fire departments, military buildings, or communications buildings, or at locations closer than 15km to known seismic sources require special consideration. As per the Uniform Building Code, these special conditions must be disclosed prior to placing an order.
- Custom cranes (cranes modified over and above the standard dimensions or capacities shown within our standard SPANCO literature) may need modification to conform to Seismic 4 Uniform Building Code due to the customized and non-standard nature of these designs. If a custom engineered crane must conform to any seismic requirements, this condition must be requested before the crane is ordered, so the proper seismic engineering analysis can be performed during the custom design process.
SPANCO's standard cranes have been engineered per UBC and ANSI MH27.2. If alternate methods of calculations are required, or different specifications are required other than listed in our sales literature, these alternate specifications need to be requested before the order is placed. Crane modifications may be required, at additional cost, to conform to specifications other than UBC and ANSI MH27.2.
When installed and maintained according to our Installation and Maintenance Manual, you may be assured of their safety and their ability to handle the rated capacity at the stated specification.
Options
The following options are available:
- Telescoping Bridges provide extended reach and ensure smooth movement with steel, anti- kick up wheels. With capacities ranging up to 2000 lbs., you can easily place parts into machinery or a neighboring workstation, reach beyond a support column or under a mezzanine.
- Cantilevered Bridges lift loads outside a regular crane's coverage area.
- Trussed Cantilevered Bridges provide extended reach for higher capacities.
- Bridge Buffers ensure a runway will not be overloaded by restricting the distance they can travel towards each other.
- Tractor Drives motorize the bridge or hoist and trolley on a SPANCO Workstation Bridge Crane, and are most helpful when transporting material into a difficult to reach area where manual movement is not possible. They are frequently used in heavier capacities of 1000 lbs. or more.
As a member of the Monorail Manufacturers of America (MMA) SPANCO, Inc. helped with the engineering effort to develop this standard and today, manufacturer's all of its' Workstation Crane Systems in accordance with MH 27.2.

End Stop Bumper for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- End stops are equipped with resilient rubber bumpers to increase impact resistance and are through bolted to the enclosed track.
- Standard on all enclosed track bridge crane systems
Cable/Hose Trolley for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Standard on all workstation bridge crane kits
- Utilized for conveying the power supply flat cable or round air hose
- Four wheels insure easy movement
- Pivoting clevis provides swiveling action for air hose
- Maximum 3/8" air hose on standard trolley
Festoon Section for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Furnished for end of one runway to allow stack-up of cable/hose trolleys
- Through-bolted to runway track profile. Festoon trolleys pass under through-bolt into festoon section.
- Standard on all workstation bridge crane systems
End Truck for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
End trucks provide smooth running connection between enclosed track workstation bridge crane and runway track.
- Standard wheels are large diameter polyamide, equipped with anti-friction ball bearings (steel wheels optional)
- Bronze wheels and guide rollers are available for "spark proof" applications
- Placement of horizontal steel guide rollers on either end of the truck guards against "crabbing" of workstation bridge crane
- Zinc chromate plated finish
Hoist Trolley for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Fabricated from precision cut steel plate
- Equipped with large diameter polyamide wheels with anti-friction ball bearings to ensure smooth and easy movement (steels wheels optional)
- Bronze wheels and rollers are available for "spark resistant" applications.
- Zinc chromate plated finish
Cable/Hose Clamps for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Fitted at one end of runway and bridge to hold cable or hose
- Flat cable 4 wire #14 A.W.G. supplied standard on all systems as shown
- 3/8' air hose optional
Vacuum Hose Trolley for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Special free moving trolleys with kick-up rollers and Velcro straps are provided to festoon vacuum hose on vacuum lifter applications
Hanger Assembly for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- All ceiling mounted workstations are provided with drop type hanger assembly that includes adjustable beam clamp 12" hanger rod and appropriate clamp, or flush type hanger assembly for attachment to overhead building beams.
- Hangers are of appropriate size and numbers for selected system.
Flat Cable Festooning Systems (four wires #14 A.W.G.) for Enclosed Track (shown in photo gallery)
- Supplied with all bridge crane systems
- Optional, various sized air hoses available
- Festoon loops are 18" for bridges and 36" for runways
Enclosed Track Runway and Bridge Beams for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Trussed track available in 4 profiles and 15 standard trusses from 250 lb. to 4,000 lb. capacity
- Standard maximum support centers of 20, 25, and 30 feet
Track Splice Assemblies for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Slide over track profile to insure proper alignment
- Trussed track splice assembly bolts through top chord to prevent joints from separating
Universal Bumper (optional) for Enclosed Track System (shown in photo gallery)
- Frictionally clamped to track opening to buffer between multiple bridges

Tie Rod Hanger Assembly-Plain Track Runway (shown in photo gallery)
Standard hanger assembly for plain track systems. Includes:
- Adjustable roof beam clamp providing secure fit to beam. Flange widths range from 2 in. to 8 in.
- Standard 12 in. hanger rod. (Longer as required)
- Plain track support bracket
Tie Rod Hanger Assembly - Trussed Track Runway (shown in photo gallery)
Standard hanger assembly for trussed track systems. Includes:
- Adjustable beam clamp providing secure fit to beam. Flange widths range from 2 in. to 8 in.
- Standard 12 in. hanger rod. (Longer as required)
- Trussed track support bracket.
Sway Bracing (shown in photo gallery)
- Required on all tie rod supported systems to ensure maximum runway rigidity.
- Sway brace clip attaches to standard rod and track clamp. Fits 1 in. diameter, schedule 40 pipe at a 45° angle.
- One inch pipe supplied by others.
Flush Clamp-Cross Mount (shown in photo gallery)
- Optional hanger assembly attaching plain track to support steel. Fabricated from structural plate equipped with Grade 5 bolts and beam clips.
- Care should be taken to ensure adequate bridge clearance.
Flush Clamp-Parallel Mount (shown in photo gallery)
- Optional hanger assembly attaching plain track to support steel. Fabricated from structural plate equipped with two Grade 5 bolts and beam clips.
