Every year, Spanco awards a scholarship through the Material Handling Education Foundation to a student studying Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. We are pleased to announce that the Spanco, Inc. Honor Scholarship for the 2020/2021 academic term has been awarded to Stephanie Vojtek.
Stephanie is entering her senior year at Penn State University, where she is pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering. Stephanie has aspired to become an engineer since she was young, and several of her relatives who hold degrees in Industrial Engineering introduced her to the many opportunities the field offers.
Last summer, Stephanie held an intern position with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. During her internship, she helped support the capacity model for the HELLFire Missile Depot in Anniston, Alabama. During her internship, she analyzed process flows to identify and eliminate bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Stephanie explained that, since this internship was her first one, she gained invaluable experience in the operations of such a large organization. The internship allowed her to see how her role fits into the organization as a whole.
Stephanie is also active in several organizations at Penn State. She is a leader in the Penn State Women in Engineering Program as well as the PGN Professional Development Organization. She has also been heavily involved in THON, a University fundraising and awareness campaign for research into the treatment of childhood cancer. These groups have offered her valuable experience for her career path through developing skills in leadership, communication, interviewing, and networking. In her free time (when she has it) Stephanie enjoys cooking, hiking, sitcoms, and spending time with her friends.
After graduation, Stephanie plans to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree or enter the workforce. Whether she chooses to pursue an MBA or enter the workforce immediately after graduation, Stephanie is determined to earn her MBA either way. Her career plan is to work in data analytics for the supply chain industry, using her skills to improve supply chain operations.
Spanco would like to congratulate Stephanie for all of her achievements and for receiving the 2020/2021 Spanco Honor Scholarship! We wish her all the best, and we are sure that she will continue to find success in her future!
