Spanco Donates Overhead Workstation System to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Welding Program

Feb 16, 2026

Spanco, a leading manufacturer of overhead material handling systems, partnered with KAM Industrial Services to donate and install a state-of-the-art ceiling-mounted workstation crane for the Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Welding Program. The donation includes a 1-ton Workmate Hoist, tractor drives, and a wireless pendant control system, all professionally installed by KAM Industrial Services, a trusted Spanco distributor.

This donation, installed in July 2025, is designed to enhance hands-on learning by allowing students to safely and efficiently move materials in a shop setting—particularly on and off the plasma cutting table. The system replicates real-world industrial environments, giving students practical experience with crane and hoist operations.

“Historically, when hiring students, we’ve found they often lack experience operating cranes and hoists,” said Shawn Trexler, Executive VP of Operations. “This donation helps bridge that gap, preparing students for the demands of modern fabrication and welding facilities.”

The new equipment will significantly improve workflow and safety in the welding lab, while also expanding the curriculum to include material handling best practices. Penn College of Technology continues to be a leader in applied technology education, and this partnership with Spanco reinforces its commitment to industry-relevant training.
